Manage your recurring card spend
Mercurie can track the recurring software and service payments charged to your virtual cards, show you what changed each month, and warn you in-app before a renewal is likely to fail.
Preview. This feature is rolling out gradually and is available today only to selected businesses, and only to the account with the Admin role on the business. If you don't see it yet, either your business hasn't been enabled or you're signed in with a different role. There's no self-serve signup — open a Support ticket if you'd like to be considered for early access.
What it does
Subscriptions detected from your cards
Mercurie looks at settled payments on your virtual cards and identifies the ones that repeat — the tools and services you pay for every month or year. These show up alongside the subscriptions you already manage through Mercurie, such as Google Workspace.
- Only settled Mercurie card charges are used. A payment made outside Mercurie cards is never included, and the page tells you plainly what a total is and isn't based on.
- A charge only counts once it has settled — an authorization alone isn't enough. A brand-new subscription may take a few charges before Mercurie has enough evidence to suggest it, so don't expect a first-month subscription to show up immediately.
- The same service used on different cards — for example, two team members each with their own card for the same tool — shows as separate rows, one per card.
- You stay in control: a detected charge appears under Needs review until you act on it. Choose Confirm subscription if it's really recurring, or Not a subscription if it isn't. Only what you confirm counts toward your totals and renewal warnings. A quick confirm or decline can't be undone from that same prompt — if you change your mind afterwards, correct it from the subscription's full details instead.
- What you see per subscription: the merchant name, the charge amount, the date, and the last four digits of the card — never the full card number.
Monthly spend review
A month-by-month breakdown of your recurring card spend, including the current month while it's still in progress.
- Totals are kept separate per currency — Mercurie never blends currencies using an estimated exchange rate.
- Changes are grouped the way you'd actually ask about them — new subscriptions, stopped ones, and price changes or other material shifts.
- Every total opens the exact charges behind it, so the numbers always reconcile against your card transactions.
- Refunds reduce the month they belong to, and a month's total is never pushed below zero.
- Reports use your business's own registered timezone (Africa/Lagos by default) to decide which month a charge falls in — nothing to configure, and Mercurie never guesses from your browser.
Renewal warnings before a payment fails
When a confirmed subscription is coming up for renewal and the card behind it may not cover the charge, Mercurie shows an in-app warning roughly two days ahead — there's no email or other notification yet.
- A warning tells you whether it's a predicted shortfall or a payment that has already failed, so you know how urgent it is.
- Every warning includes a one-tap Top up card action that takes you straight to the right card.
- Snooze for 7 days, or Dismiss it for the cycle — your choice is remembered.
What this is not
- Mercurie doesn't cancel or block a subscription for you. Detection and warnings are informational — cancelling still happens with the merchant or provider directly.
- A detected subscription isn't proof of who authorized it or how it's being used — it reflects that a card was charged, nothing more.
- Renewal warnings only cover subscriptions confirmed in your dashboard. An unconfirmed detected subscription won't trigger a warning until you review it.
Common questions
Why don't I see a subscription I expect? A few common reasons: the charge hasn't settled yet, it's still building up the history Mercurie needs before suggesting it, it was paid on a card other than a Mercurie card, or it's sitting under Needs review waiting for you to confirm it.
Why don't I see this feature at all? It's rolling out gradually, and during preview it's visible only to the Admin account on an enabled business. If you don't see it, either your business isn't enabled yet or you're signed in with a different role — no action is needed on your side either way.
Does Mercurie see payments I make outside my Mercurie cards? No. Detection only looks at settled transactions on Mercurie virtual cards. Anything paid another way is outside Mercurie's visibility and won't appear.
What happens after I confirm a subscription? It moves from Needs review into your regular subscriptions list, counts toward your monthly totals from then on, and becomes eligible for renewal warnings.
What if I confirmed or declined the wrong thing? The one-tap Confirm/Not a subscription choice itself can't be undone, but you can correct the subscription's classification afterwards from its details — that correction only affects your business, not other Mercurie customers.
Will a renewal warning stop the charge from happening? No — it's a heads-up, not a block. Use the Top up card action to make sure the card has enough balance before the renewal date.
Need help?
If a subscription, total, or warning looks wrong, open a Support ticket from the Mercurie sidebar with the subscription name and the month it concerns.
