Complete Admin Setup

Finish Google Admin Console verification to fully activate your new Google Workspace subscription.

Complete Admin Setup

After you buy or transfer a new Google Workspace subscription, you may see an Action Required: Complete Admin Setup banner on the Mercurie subscription detail page. This means Google requires the Workspace admin to finish a short verification inside the Google Admin Console before the subscription is fully active.

The process takes about five minutes.

Who this page is for. Any new or transferred Google Workspace subscription that shows the "Complete Admin Setup" or "Complete Google Admin Console Setup" banner. Until this step is done, the subscription is not fully provisioned and some features (like adding users or creating groups) may be unavailable.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • Access to the Mercurie dashboard as the Workspace admin or an owner on the Mercurie account.
  • A private / incognito browser window, or a browser profile that isn't already signed in to a different Google account. The Admin Console sign-in flow can get confused if you're already signed in elsewhere.
  • The provisioning domain shown in the Mercurie dashboard. This is the primary domain for the new Workspace account (e.g. acme.com).

Step 1 — Open the setup banner

Go to the Subscriptions section in your Mercurie dashboard and open the detail page for the Workspace subscription that shows the banner. You'll see one of two banners:

  • "Action Required: Complete Admin Setup" with a Setup Now button, or
  • "Action Required: Complete Google Admin Console Setup" with an Open Google Admin button.

Click the button to start.

Tip. Right-click the button and open it in an incognito / private window if you have other Google accounts signed in. This avoids the account picker entirely.

Step 2 — Fill in Business Info

The Mercurie setup wizard opens. In Step 1 — Business Info, enter:

  • First name
  • Last name
  • Company name
  • Phone

The Provisioning Domain for this subscription is shown at the top of the wizard for reference.

Step 3 — Fill in Admin Details

In Step 2 — Admin Details, enter:

  • Admin Username (this becomes the super-admin email at your domain, e.g. admin@acme.com)
  • Phone number
  • Role (e.g. Super Administrator)

Review the details, then submit the form.

Pick a strong, stored password. The admin username you create here is your Workspace super-admin. Treat it like the root credential it is — store it in your password manager, share it with at most one trusted co-admin, and turn on 2-Step Verification once you're signed in.

Step 4 — Accept the Google Product Agreement

After the wizard submits, you'll be redirected to the Google Admin Console (admin.google.com). Sign in with the admin username you just created and follow Google's prompts to accept the Google Product Agreement.

The agreement step is normal and required — Google only activates the subscription once a signed-in Workspace admin accepts the terms.

Step 5 — Verify activation

Once you've accepted the agreement, return to your Mercurie dashboard and refresh the subscription detail page. The action-required banner should disappear and the subscription status should show as Active within a minute or two.

No further action is needed on your side.

Common questions

What if I don't see the banner? If the subscription detail page does not show the "Complete Admin Setup" banner, the admin setup may already be complete, or the subscription may have been created through a different flow (such as a transfer where Google already has an admin on file). If you're unsure whether the subscription is fully active, check the Provisioning Status field on the detail page, or open a support ticket.

What if Google Admin says the domain already exists? This usually means the domain was previously associated with a Google Workspace account. If you are transferring the domain from another provider, make sure the old account was fully cancelled or the domain was released before starting setup. If the domain is stuck, open a support ticket with Mercurie and include the domain name — we can check the partner-side status and reissue the setup link if needed.

How long does it take? The wizard and agreement acceptance take about five minutes. The status update in the Mercurie dashboard is asynchronous and typically reflects within one to two minutes after acceptance. If the banner is still visible after 10 minutes, refresh the page once more; if it persists, open a support ticket.

Can I do this from my phone? You can, but the form fields and agreement pages are easier to read on a laptop or desktop browser. If you only have a phone, request the desktop site in your browser and follow the same steps.

I'm not the Workspace admin — can someone else do this? Yes, but the person who completes the wizard and signs in to Google Admin must become the Workspace super-admin for this domain. If you want a different person to be the admin, ask your Mercurie account owner to update the subscription contact or transfer ownership before starting setup.

Need help?

The Support entry on the Mercurie dashboard sidebar opens a ticket with the ops team. Admin setup tickets are typically resolved same-hour during business hours.
